Intriguing quote at the top of this section: If the student can be made to understand the principles of scientific treatment of tissue-states...his judgement as to prescribing comes to him as if by intuition, and can scarcely be wrong.
Matthew Wood gives a brief history and reason for the language of energetics that he presents - and that many folk herbalists use today, thanks to him. He then goes on to give great information about each tissue state. I appreciate the opportunity to learn and use this common language with the wonderful herbalists around me! And maybe it can seep out a bit into the non-herbal world, too, as a new way of looking at health and wellness, as well as "un-health" and how to deal with that.
I want to try to share the chart of the tissue states that I showed y'all yesterday during our study. Remember - no person or plant will "fit" into any single tissue state. Everyone, human or plant, holds a unique spot in the whole energetic picture. Thus, it is useful to know where a person fits in order to suggest herbal remedies that are specific for balancing imbalances, whether they be physical emotional, or spiritual.
I spent some time online this afternoon researching information about our next chapters coming up. I came across a website with the chart that Judit shared with us. You can access it at The School for Modern Herbal Medicine. It's an article written by Steven Horne, a much respected herbalist and writer. There is so much more to look at in the website, too. I've spent waaay too long browsing there this afternoon. Enjoy.
